P20

P20 Plastic Mould Steel For Precision Tooling

TSI Metals supplies P20 Plastic Mould Steel for demanding moulding and tooling applications where toughness, polishability, uniform hardness and dimensional stability are important.

P20 is commonly used for plastic injection moulds, compression moulds, die-casting dies, low-pressure mould bases and tooling inserts. Its pre-hardened condition can help reduce the need for additional heat treatment before machining.

Heat Treatment

Pre-Hardened Condition
P20 is commonly supplied in a pre-hardened condition, typically around HRC 28–32, allowing machining and mould manufacturing without additional hardening in many applications.

Annealing
P20 can be supplied annealed when a softer condition is required for machining or subsequent heat treatment.

Hardening & Tempering
Where additional hardness or specific mechanical properties are required, P20 may undergo controlled hardening followed by tempering. Select the exact heat-treatment parameters according to the material specification, section size, and application.
