H-11

H11 is an air-hardening hot work tool steel developed for applications where high toughness and resistance to thermal fatigue are important.

Its balanced alloy composition makes it suitable for forging dies, extrusion tooling, punch dies, press tools and other high-temperature tooling applications.

Heat Treatment

Heat Treatment

Developed For High Hardness & Thermal Stability

H-13 is normally preheated and austenitized before air cooling, followed by tempering to achieve the required balance of hardness and toughness.

Preheating

Controlled preheating helps reduce thermal stress before the final hardening temperature is reached.

Hardening

The steel is heated to the appropriate austenitizing temperature and then air quenched.

Tempering

Tempering is performed after hardening to develop the required combination of hardness, toughness and thermal stability.

Double Tempering

Double tempering is commonly used for H13 tooling to improve stability and achieve consistent final properties.
